The Rebetiko Night held at the “Stavros Halioris” Social Center on Saturday, February 11, 2017, was a great success, attracting both devoted fans of rebetiko music and newcomers eager to discover this unique musical tradition.
During the evening, the audience enjoyed 27 classic rebetiko songs by renowned composers, offering a musical journey through the evolution of this iconic Greek genre. More than just a concert, the event provided an opportunity to explore an important part of Greece’s cultural heritage, as rebetiko is deeply connected to the country’s social history and expresses themes such as love, hardship, longing, social injustice, poverty, and resilience.
