On Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., the presentation of the book Foundation Stones by G. Parastatidis was successfully held in Magiko. This publication was the first publishing project of the Stavros Chalioris Social Center and received a warm response from the audience.
Through its pages, older readers can revisit important memories, while younger generations can discover the remarkable contribution of dedicated teachers who served our region during difficult times. Despite the many challenges they faced, they carried out their mission with patience, perseverance, and a deep sense of responsibility.
The event took place in a packed hall at the Social Center and opened with performances by the Choir and Orchestra of the Xanthi Music School, who kindly accepted our invitation.
The author of the book and President of the Social Center welcomed the audience, spoke with emotion about the project, and sincerely thanked everyone who contributed to its completion.
The book was presented by the Mayor of Avdira, V. Tsolakidis, the Principal of Petinos Primary School, K. Tsiftsidou, and the editor of the publication, H. Mananas.
Greetings were also delivered by His Eminence Metropolitan Panteleimon of Xanthi and Peritheorio, former Deputy Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament P. Sgouridis, and Deputy Mayor of Xanthi Dimitris Benis.
The evening concluded with a heartfelt speech by teacher Ath. Tsiakpinis, one of the people featured in the book, who shared memories from his years of service in the primary schools of our region with humility, warmth, and good humor.
